Places Around Point Reyes: “Places Around Point Reyes” is a series shot at Point Reyes Lighthouse in Marin County, California. Taken on the last day of a month long road trip from San Francisco to Vancouver, Canada and back in July of 2015, the series aims to document the dilapidated structures found around the park.
Based on the principles of wabi-sabi; which acknowledges the reality of entropy, I find functional objects which are weathered, decayed and seemingly forgotten, to be particularly interesting. There is something deeply pleasurable about observing the contrast and opposition of a modern, human made object within an organic and natural environment. By capturing this contrast in a symmetrical form, I aim to document what I see in a straight-forward and reproducible manner.
